TW8K Returns to the Thomas Wolfe Memorial House in 2013! Who Says You Can Never Go Home Again? Oh...right.

The Thomas Wolfe Race

The 37th running of the Thomas Wolfe 8k winds through beautiful downtown Asheville, North Carolina, passing into the Historic Montford District, the Reed Creek Greenway, and Riverside Cemetery, before finishing in front of Thomas Wolfe Memorial House at 52 N. Market St.

On a sunny Autumn morning, the leaves beginning to change, hundreds of runners will try for their personal bests as they race 8 kilometers to benefit the Literacy Council of Buncombe County's Augustine Project (free tutoring for children), Riverlink, and Connect Buncombe. In addition to the awards at the end, this race is unique in that it includes two cash sprints: the 1 Mile Sprint and the 3 Mile sprint, both sponsored by Jus' Running. The fastest male and female runners at each marker will receive a cash bonus of $50.00!!!

The course remains the same as 2012 with the minor change of starting/finishing at T Wolf's Old Home Place. Join us on October 19th at 10am for a festive fall run through historic Asheville. You'll be rewarded with quenching beer, pizza, live music, a keepsake long-sleeve cotton shirt, and incredible awards/raffles.

Race Series Information

The 2013 TW8k is also one of the races in the Asheville Track Club's, 2013 Wired Mouse Grand Prix, with over $4,000 in cash prizes to be awarded at the annual club Christmas party!

we are Looking For Volunteers

A race doesn't happen by itself. It takes loads of dedicated people, working hard behind the scenes, to get hundreds of runners from the starting line to the finish line. Without the support of race volunteers and local public safety professionals, such as emergency medical technicians and police officers, this race will not happen.

That being said, WE NEED VOLUNTEERS for the Thomas Wolfe 8k.

Who is a volunteer? Anyone who wants to share in a unique race experience. You might not be a runner but love to watch races. You might be a runner who wants to support our local races so that they can keep on coming back every year. You might be the parent or spouse of someone who is running. Plus volunteering can be loads of fun!!!

Please help us out! WE NEED YOU!!!
